Nuance Ultra Shine Lip Gloss (around 7.5 dollars at CVS) is my second and probably last Salma Hayek brand purchase. The particular shade I picked up is Pomegranate, a bright, shimmer-free watermelon pink. The overly sweet gloss smells and tastes somewhat like grape flavored cough syrup (something I would love...If I am still in 8th grade), applies smoothly and comfortably.
Nuance Pomegranate swatched with Revlon Strawberry and Essence Candy Bar (both has much better staying power and pigmentation than the Nuance one)
Nuance Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Pomegranate swatched- While it looks nice and juicy when it's first applied, the color (which doesn't even build up with layers) and shine wear down significantly and quickly.
Overall: It's a decent lip product (because shimmer-free pinks simply don't go wrong) but when compared to other drugstore glosses like the ones from NYX (much better pigmentation, scent and staying power, 2 dollars cheaper, same volume), NYC (less than half the price, higher shine and longer wear, same volume), Revlon (same price, more unique shade selection/wear time/finish/pigmentation), Essence (1/3 the price, much better at...everything?)... The Nuance gloss really is mediocre at best (if I were to be nice).
P.S. I didn't like it that it's made in Taiwan yet the price is still "American".
That looks really nice! It is a shame that it doesn't last as long.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the swatch and review. I love shimmer free lip products and this one looks like jelly, too bad about the price and staying power though.
ReplyDeletewow it looks nice! that sucks that it doesnt last long
ReplyDeleteIts a gorgeous shine but most of the shiny lipgloss I own doesn't last too!!! TOo bad about the Made in Taiwan but prices made in US!
ReplyDeleteYour lips always look PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteAww. I like the look of a fresh application but if it doesn't last...meh.
