Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipstick in Plum Shine

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipstick in Plum Shine was one of my first picks back in summer, as that's the only season I can wear vampy shades. The brownish plummy red with blue-red micro glitter looks absolutely dashing (in the tube),  like a chocolate dipped strawberry under the chandelier. Unfortunately, it was a different story when I actually wear it...
Basically, these harmless-looking-enough micro glitters manage to grow exponentially and multi-task the moment I put it on my lips. The glitter brothers and sisters' tasks include:
1. Giving an frosty finish and colors that feathers
2. Drying out my lips and sinking in the fine lines
3. Traveling around the lower quarter of my face
4. Just looking unflattering (Not Maybelline's fault though)
Like other CS high shine lipsticks, Plum Shine does have a wet sheen (once I do enough layers) but the base is barely moist enough to hold the hoard of glitter, let alone actually moisturize. At first, I thought that my lips has already got a tolerance towards the formula but it turns out (after wiping this off and going back to other shades, which all wore evenly and beautifully) Plum Shine is the only shade that gives me issues.
Vampy Plummy lipstick side by side - Maybelline Plum Shine, Shiseido Natural Wine (my favorite both in terms of finish and color), Anna Sui Rouge G 501, Revlon Va Va Violet

Overall:  My least favorite of all Color Sensational high shine, Plum Shine is too brown, too drying, too frosty and too blotchy for my liking. I might try to use it with a more purple-wine gloss and see how it goes.

  4. I agree with the rest, this looks beautiful on you. But, the traveling glitters (and I bet the color wears off leaving just the glitter to annoy you too?) is a no go anyway. I like cremes the best, but don't mind a lipstick with a little shimmer or very fine glitter, but I'm afraid to buy them because they will actually look frosty and "grow exponentially and multi-task" as you said.

  5. Beautiful Color! When you see the lipstick in the store you don't expect much of it. But when I tried this lip stick I was amazed. I want to buy it soon! :)
