Muji Lip Gloss in Red

Back in December of 2018, Muji revamped their whole makeup line into something even Muji-er (simpler design with that's housed in clear acrylic and white). Since I was in Tokyo at the time and still pretty much in my first-time-tourist mode (going all "Weeeee Tokyo" and "Must buy all teh things").I got a few toys to play with, after all they were all a few bucks each.
Muji Lip Gloss is a basic gloss with a sturdy plastic tube (It looks way nicer than Maybelline and NYX). I picked up the color Red, which is more of a bright pinkish red with no shimmer or sparkle.
The gloss itself is quite pigmented (for a gloss and for Japanese lip product) and comes in a pointed sponge that does a great job spreading the viscous formula. As with most Muji products, the gloss is free of added fragrance (the the product itself doesn't smell funny).
You can see the vinyl shine here. While a little thick, the gloss doesn't form a gunky layer so the shine and bright color doesn't look or feel tacky. It's really good at smoothing the lip lines and soaking up dead skin (then again, all thick glosses do that).
Doesn't the no-fuzz packaging look good with the snowy background?
As for the gloss itself, the formula isn't anything special (thick and pigmented glosses were allover the place since mid-2000) and for 890yens I enjoy using it but don't think it's a must buy.

Cezanne and Canmake both make excellent lip color for around 500 yens and if you spend a few bucks more, brands like B&C Laboratory, Flowfushi and Excel all make those newer pampering oil gloss with more edited colors.

  1. That's a pretty color on you! Did you take any photos of the revamped eye shadows?

    1. Only the Spy cam pictures so far but I got two of the duos to play with. The weather here in NJ had been so overcast (since march actually), not the best for blogging.

  2. What are your favourite eyeshadow brushes? Do you have any you recommend? I said I wasn't going to buy anything but I am upgrading my eyeshadow brushes. Instead of buying every single eyeshadow out there i reckon good eyeshadow brushes are a good investment. So far I've bought MAC, Clinique and Estee Lauder eyeshadow brushes, I like them all they are a step up from the el cheapo brushes.

    1. The Sephora brand ones (natural haired) are pretty good when it comes to western brand. I just realized most of my favorites are discontinued. Shu Uemura natural 10 got replaced by synthetic hair (the high price stays), Chikuhodo 12-5 is no longer being made. I think lots of brands are switching to synthetic hair but it's doesn't grab pigments as well as the natural one.

  3. I bought clinique eyeshadow brush for $33aud, I really like it. I think it's natural hair. It's a silver handle, looks really basic but does the job. It's a small brush but suits my pancake single eyelids, it's the perfect size. I hate big eyeshadow brushes because it's gets everywhere and I don't have big caucasian creases to blend it anywhere lolz. I have some MAC eye brushes they are good too but Clinique works perfect for me. Estee Lauder make a MAC 217 dupe that's natural hair, brush #25. I should of bought MAC brushes before they changed over to synthetic. Actually I have a feeling both EL and Clinique will soon follow and switch to synthetic hair.

  4. I also bought MAC lipstick in Bombshell (frost) and Brick O La (amplified). I wasn't going to buy got back2mac and decided to get something. Brick O La is like a dusty rose red colour, it's very popular Asia shade. I love Bombshell...remember how I was full raving about Maybelline Born With It lipstick? Well I found a prettier, pinker, brighter and more vibrant version of it. It's the perfect Barbie pink lipstick shade. There was another shade I wanted, Lustering, but maybe next time lolz.

    1. Lustering is so pretty! I am on a lippie low buy because I accidentaly melted a few (one of them being suqqu) a while back when they are too close to the heating base board...Right now I am trying to just use whatever I have (ahem I got two lippies from Jill Stuart on Wednesday)....

  5. Never mind I went and bought MAC Lustering and Sweetie lipstick today. Apparently Lustering is a dupe for Revlon Lip Butter in Sorbet. Yeah it is a really pretty bright cherry pink. Juicy fat lips ready for action if you know what I'm talking about LMBO. Sweetie is also nice, another pretty pink.

I bought another face cream lolz Estee Lauder Nightwear Plus Anti Oxidant Night Detox Cream, green jar for $80aud. It's actually really good just as good as Tatcha and Lancome creams. It's a thick cream but absorbs fast, face feels really soft and velvety. No film residue. The ingredients list is MASSIVE like Korean skincare. It was like they were trying to fit in as many as possible. The reason why I never paid any attention to it is because I tried their Daywear cream spf15 and hated it. It felt kinda greasy and the SPF 15 was shit, weak chemical avobenzone octoxinate variety. I'm definitely going to rebuy this, when I run out of my Lancome Hydra Zen Anti Stress Moisturizing cream (not the gel version but the original cream version) I'm going to buy Estee Lauder instead. Lolz I did buy stuff this but thankfully i liked everything and worked out well for, so no regret or guilt.

  6. Revlon updated their brush range it's now all synthetic. Lolz me being a brush fanatic got curious and bought a few of them because they were half price. They are actually not bad, synthetic but very soft and good quality synthetic. Maybe a touch too soft because that means it won't pick up the pigment as well. But their old brush range was natural, but it was so scratchy that it kinda hurts. I shouldn't be too mean on Revlon lolz. I saw the Met Gala photos and all the Revlon spokespersons were all using Revlon products, especially that Candid foundation. It's annoying because we didn't get all the shades in Australia and of course they omitted the yellow shades, I should be either Tawny or Cashew but it's not available here.

    1. I think synrhetic brushes are ok when prescision doesnt matter (eyeliner, powder or cheek) but eyeshadow I always prefer natural. I am not tempted by candid foundation at all but maybe I will try superstay if I see a really good promotion.
