Besame Pot Rouge in Apricot

Out of all the American brands out there, I really like Besame with their vintage inspired brand concept and packaging that looks like a time capsule. When the changed the pot rouge tin, I got one for collection's sake.
The revamped tin looks half as large as the old flat tin, it's thicker so you are not saving that much space at the end. The Dhalia design is lightweight, detailed and looks slightly less vintage than the previous tin. What surprised me a little was that they even lowered the price a little, from 24 to 18 bucks.
Even with less product, the little rouge will last years and years as I only need two or three tiny dots (I dip it with a lip brush) for fully flushed cheeks.
(Far right is a lip color from Innisfree, there to make sure my auto focus works) Just like rouge, Apricot has that out from the cold flush that leans warm. The tint got a  natural feel and is very long wearing on bare or powdered skin.  Totallyorth the 18 bucks

  1. Have you tried Tatcha Indigo cream before? Is it good? Sorry if it's a repost, I think I posted this question before but can't remember where I posted it

    1. Oh wait let me look in comment history

Yes I did! I bought it last fall when they reformulated and lower the price from 135 to 85 (after 20% off it's very reasonable. I enjoy using it so far and it has been pretty effective for winter here!

  2. I went out and bought the Tatcha Indigo Cream at Mecca Maxima (Aussie Sephora) today....this sucker cost me $130 AUD! Omg how greedy are they. It is indeed very soothing. Has a thick texture and feels kinda sticky at first but absorbs eventually to a nice velvet finish. It's kinda what I wanted the Olay Whipped to be. But since it's so expensive, I'm going to mix it with my cheaper creams- my Moogoo Brightening cream and the MAC Studio Moisture Cream. I have dry ageing skin but don't want a greasy oily finish so I like mixing around with creams. I was interested in the Silk Cream too but it was waaay out of my budget at $184 AUD. Then they had the Water Cream at a cheaper $103 AUD but it just felt like those silicone gel creams like Neutrogena already has, and I already have Lancome Hydra Zen Gel cream which I like. I've heard about Tatcha years ago, a lot of the celebrity makeup artist raved about it but i never cared because it was never available in Australia until now. I bet you in a couple of years the brand will be swallowed up Estee Lauder etc.

And guess what I was told by the Shiseido SA as I was browsing my local department store. Shiseido is going to exit Australia by the end of June this year. I was surprised n shocked but then I wasn't after I thought about it. Shiseido was a never that popular in Australia, only with Asian customers. It was never as busy as Lancome or Estee Lauder, they were always the most quiet counter. Their shade range was terrible and we never got the full range down here. The only thing I will miss is their Future LX Solution Foundation....It's a cream foundation but feels very lightweight. I might even consider ordering online from Nordstrom...

    1. I don't think Shiseido is popular in US either (the counters were slow even in Tokyo), it got an Asian Estee Lauder feel that nobody can or want to relate to (like that their unintented target customers are too old already going for other high end). Western people feel it's too "Asian" and dated, while Asian like me find the colors mostly unwearable...

The Shiseido brands in Japan are relatively vibrant and fun while the international line had just sunk and sunk further...That's what they get for hiring western out-of-touch industry "experts" who only have shiny resumes(those people don't even know how beauty industry is like in Asia and only use La Mer la prairies themselves). It's a shame because their texture are extremely good for the price!

Anyway, Kose is making its way in US right now and it seems their brands are full of creative juice!

  3. What do you think of Drunk Elephant skin care? Have you tried any of their products? I got a sample of the La Retro whipped cream (wtf what a weird name, same with the brand name wtf) and it's not bad. It's great for dry skin. Feels sticky at first but absorbs fully. But it way overpriced at $93AUD the ingredients are nothing special- they use more fancy ingredients than drugstore creams but no way worth $93 that's just greed. High end face creams have better texture than drugstore creams but way too overpriced. I've read questionable stuff about the brand, like how they act stupid n passive aggressive bitchy to criticism and how they "cherry pick science data" to create scaremongering fear so people can buy their products.

    1. I hate their sunscreen and jelly cleanser and is lukewarm about their moisturizing gel but I love their C Firma...it's really effective hardcore vitamin c that really fades my acne scars but it oxidizes so quickly...

I just got another bottle this Sunday as I really missed it.

  4. I got a sample of the Drunk Elephant C Firma serum, hasn't gone off must be new tester. Anyway I plan to use it tonight but I got a question. I also use another oil serum that I mix into my moisturiser, Moogoo Vitamin C serum which contains another form of Vitamin C- Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate. It's basically that in an olive oil base. Can I use the Drink Elephant serum first. Then use the Moogoo Vitamin C serum mixed with my face cream as a moisturiser afterward???

    1. Yeah you can. Since it's different form of vitamin c so you wont sensitize your face with overload of l ascorbic acid...But I persionally just use c Firma on dry cleaned face and skip other vitamin c, because it's easier to see the result by itself. Anyway, you might purge (mild break out) if it's your first time using L ascorbic acid though, it took me a while to get used to the formula.
