NYC Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stain in Faithful Coral

I assume that NYC smooch proof liquid lip stain is something new this year. I needed a filler to use a coupon (this is why I have so many craps) so I picked this up on a whim.

Packaging is standard NYC, light weight and scratch-prone kind of plastic.  You can't see the color of the product inside but the tube is somewhat representative.
Applicator is the doe-foot (a little pokey and hard but no big deal). To me, the scent is synthetic fruity that's exactly like the Essence Stay with Me lipgloss, completed with that slightly bitter taste (it reminds me that I need back up of those, but I can no-longer find them in Ulta or on ebay). Well, they probably just used the same fragrance.
Texture wise, NYC smooch proof is a watery gel that's not unlike but much thinner (in terms of pigmentation and the viscosity of the gloss tint) take on the L'Oréal glossy stain. (in the picture is Coral Tattoo, which I seriously need to toss because it's ancient).

Most lip stain in the market are deep in color so it's refreshing to see a light, cantaloupe kind of shade like Faithful Coral. It would be the perfect choice for girls with paler lips but personally need a lot more layer just to make it show.
A few dabs of Faithful Coral (already looking more pink and less orange), there is some floating of pigments but it's nothing too obvious. As with most other stains, I had to run to my nearest wax based balm as it soaks up all the moisture and make my lips look like prune if I wear it by itself.
Faithful Coral with Maybelline Baby Lips Coral Crush.

Overall: Not a bad product as you are getting what you pay for (half what L'Oréal does at less and half the price, completed with lousy packaging). I surprisingly don't hate it (given how most nyc cart filler just ended up in garbage after swatching).

  1. The color is super pretty!
How would you compare this to Revlon Moisture Stain (if you have tried)? The consistency from the picture reminds me of it plus the color Miami Fever which I recently bought.

    1. Nope, I haven't bought any newer releases since summer 2014. I will have to assume revlon's is much wetter/better since nyc is all stain with practically no base, even the color is milkier.
