Shiseido Portable Lip Brush

I have this Shiseido Portable Lip Brush for almost two years already and it's still holding up well, so I reckon a little review review would be helpful (to those who have too many pots to dip). The brush comes with a two bronze-toned metal pieces (you uncap the lid and stack it on the brush body to push the tip out) that's has a thin layer of Shiseido logo print on. Impressively, the print is still enact consider I manhandle all of my makeup and tools. The brush is rather lightweight and compact but doesn't feel flimsy or cheap.

The brush is made of "natural hair" according to Shiseido, base on its sleek finish and low-to-no absorbancy, my guess is on sable. Unlike Shiseido's normal lip brush (which I have misplaced...oops), the bristle on the portable one is quite long and minimally tapered, only trimmed a little at the tip. I found that it swings sideways too much, offering too little precision which I can get with a stiffer/more tapered brush. Anyway, I mainly use it to apply potted lip product (namely balm/glosses) so it doesn't bother me that much.

Overall: A reasonably priced (18 bucks) and well-made brush for basic need. But if you want a portable brush for some particularly problematic lip color (that bleeds without some special care), you might want to look elsewhere. I prefer Shiseido's tapered brush overall and it can be portable if you just carries a tissue paper to wipe off the residue. Anna Sui's wide, flat and tapered lip brush also works quite well, even though I kind of dissed it in my original review.

  1. Oh wow that reminds me, most of my lip brushes gets lost! That's why I'm not purchasing them anymore!

  2. Thanks for the review! I think I'll go for the Shiseido's normal lip brush because I prefer the stiffer ones too because they have more control around the lip line and I think they clean up easier too.
