EOS Organic Lip Balm in Lemon Drop

Didn't I say that these are pure gimmick? Well, I did but gimmicks are cool when they are free, right? And don't we just all love our extra care bucks?

EOS Organic Lip Balm in Lemon Drop is one of the only two varieties available at CVS (the other one is summer fruit so if they CVS ever holds the same promotion again, there would be nothing new for me try). The "100% natural 95% organic" lip balm also contains a total 10.5% of chemical sunscreen to provide SPF 15. OK,how can it be 100% natural when there is 10.5% chemical ingredients? Am I missing something from my first grade math here? (Please feel free to enlighten me on the subject matter since I am kind of rotten both at math and chemistry.)

In the other hand, I got nothing to bitch about the whole "organic" ordeal, since the very definition of organic is "a compound containing carbon" (and the two chemical sunscreen both contain it.
Here is a complete list of the ingredient of the EOS lemon drop lip balm (copied from their website)So it seems that at least the second half of the list is mostly "certified organic".Do I care about it? Not really, you all know I love my chemicals.
Active ingredients Octinoxate 7.5%, Oxybenzone 3.0%.Inactive ingredients Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax (Cire D’abeille), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Natural Flavor, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil*, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract, Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.
Unlike Summer Fruit (which grew on me as it survived a trip down the washing machine/dryer and the dome shaped balm is still enacted...How did they manage to do that?), Lemon Drop seems to be creamier and oilier that it glides on a lot more easily and leaves a thicker sheen, not sure if I like it.

As of moisturizing benefit, I personally can feel none, it leaves a bit of oil/wax mixture on my lips and keep them moist, IFF they are already moist. Scent wise,it has that delicious lemon creme sandwich cookies smell that reminds me of Lancome Juicy Tube in Lemon Sugar(one of my few favorite scent in cosmetics)when I sniff it directly. As it's applied, it becomes a sour, citrus smell that remind me of...rotten fruits.
Overall: Well, at least it...looks cute?

  1. Actually, there are three other varieties available in the EOS line. There a total of five: Lemon Drop, Summer Fruit, Sweet Mint, Honeydew and Tangerine. That's a shame that you didn't like Lemon Drop! It's my personal favorite! You should try the Honeydew one, it feels different than the Lemon Drop one, not as oily feeling!

  2. I have the Summer Fruit and actually like it quite a bit, but I'm worried what will happen when I use up the dome - there'll be still some product left, but I'll probably be impossible to scoop up... x

Oh, I meant to say one of the two varieties available in CVS (that I can get for free though promotion) but I just ended up leaving it out...I have seen other shades in Walgreens but I doubt I would buy anything this the two I own don't do anything to my lips.

    Rocaille:
I kind of wonder the same thing, I guess no beauty blogger has ever finished a tube (ball)/ covered this part.
