Of course, the point of this post is not to persuade you guys to ditch bottled drink. (as for drinking water, I just use tap water with a filter to make me feel better, but I do admit that I have a strange addiction to sports drinks...but I never actually work out...) It's about something that's pretty much an overpriced water, toner of that sort, which I realized that it's more or less just there to make me feel better.
Before becoming lazy enough to ditch the toner all , I did ran through a couple of those products that are 99% water, and here is my thought:
Thayer Rose Petal and Witch Hazel Toner: If I remember it correctly, this has been around for quite a while, like 100 years ? The rosy scent it's just right , calming and get rid of the little bit of leftover from the careless cleaning. But I realized later that if I use a good enough of a cleanser, I should need to re-cleanse. (I just use cotton and toner to refresh, not as a moisturizer.)
Nivea
First off, the sweet powdery scent is a bit too strong for me. Otherwise it's quite gentle and...I just couldn't tell the difference if I just splash water on my face instead...
Why did I buy this...I always thought that aloe is natural and all that good stuff, but the last tube I have (which contains 1% alcohol) stings my face and caused some redness and discomfort, I realized that it's probably because of the alcohol so I grabbed this instead, which is as close as a bottle product can get from that mucous you squeezed out of a piece of aloe.
Guess what, it still irritates...not only I have rashes (when I use it on my hands.)if that hand get too close to my eyes, I start to cry...Now I am allergic to aloe!?
Anyway, it's a good primer before moisturizer for those extremely dry patches though , I meant I used it on my feet only.
P.S. Remember to keep warm (for those of you in the north, you know what I am talking about...) and Happy Holidays...In a couple of days I will talk about other gadgets!
Hey nice to see you ! :) Merry Christmas :) thanks for the toner reviews! You could be allergic to Aloe!
ReplyDeleteI've been using the same aloe vera gel on my face on pimples, for some reason my eyes water like crazy after I put this on
ReplyDeleteThe full ingredient list is ….
ReplyDeleteAloe Vera Gel, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl, Acetate, Carbomer, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Diazolidinyl UREA.
You probably are not allergic to aloe but anyone of the other ingredients. Diazolidinyl UREA is a well known and one of the most common allergens; it also releases formaldehyde at certain temperatures. You should try just plain aloe from the plant.
