12 for 2012 - Beauty-Related Favorites and Rejects

Tagged by Birkie, here is my 12 for 2012.  The timing is perfect as I haven't done a post like this last year (and what else to post about when it's cold and gloomy outside?).

 1. Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum
Perfect for stimulating growth on bald patches

2. Maybelline Eyeshadow in general
No skill? No problem.  Speaking of which, there will be another post about the Color Tattoo shadow...

3.Revlon Sweet Tart Lip Butter
I actually like most of the lighter and warm toned shades

4.Revlon Balm Stain (all shades)
Some shade (namely Rendezvous)is more uncomfortable than the others but overall I like the smell, colors, finish and lasting powder.

5. Maybelline Coral Luster Lipstick
From 2011 but I wear the shade a lot for 2012 as well

6.Paul & Joe Maraschino Lip Gloss
Yummy-smelling, shiny, moisturizing (yet light) and surprisingly long-lasting

7.Paul & Joe Eyebrow Powder
The most natural-looking brow-powder.

8. Makemania Gloss in Red Beige
Sticky, shiny and pretty in an understated way.

9.Covergirl Lashblast Volume
Last for hours even with my super oily lids

10.Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream
It's really horrible for a "BB Cream" but the formula looks so natural and it's so wet (aka continuously moisturizing in room that's AC overload).

11. Sally Hansen Greige Garden
I like all taupe, this is just the first one I found

12. Dial Body Washes (in general) an then Nivea Creme Soft Soap

I didn't include any blush since I like quite a few of them - The old version of Milani powder blush, Majolica Majorca Cherry Macaron, Essence Renesmee Red (from the Twilight collection), the Balm Cheek Stain, Canmake Cream Cheek...

Now here comes the rejects - They are not necessarily the worst of the worst, just the one I happened to find while I was clearing out the clutter.

1. (Not pictured because I tossed it) Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer
Doesn't cover (my acne scar), cakes like mad and breaks me out like a mofo.

2. Blistex Moisture Melt Lip Balm
No melting moisture, just feels like oil and vaseline

3.Wet n Wild Lipstick
Slippery formula, hedious colors (well, there was one shade that I did like)

4.Physicians Formula Happy Booster Lipstick
By far the worst lipstick formula+packaging I have ever tried.

5.Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pink Whisper, Peach Petal
Not necessarily horrible but I just don't like frosty gloss

6.Physicians Formula Eyeliner
Cracks and disappears too quickly

7.eos hand cream
It just doesn't really work on me.

8.Physicians Formula Mascara
Smudges and gets allover my under-eye

9.Demeter Hello Kitty spray
I have never used anything that diffuse this quickly.

10. Yardley soap and body wash
It was an OK product...Before someone decided to dilute it with 80% water.
11. Carmex Lime Twist Lip Balm
It's too gunky and it stings

12. Sula Awake Till Sunrise Lipstick
Yeah, I picked the wrong one for the picture. The Milani lipstick isn't that bad at all.

That's all for the post. Feel free to tag yourself and/or share your favorite beauty finds for the year. Thank you all for sticking around!

  1. More art posts yay! The drawing of the Dial body wash is really spot-on and cute. I might have to do this tag myself but for sure the Revlon balm stains are on my list too. I used to not like them but I kept wearing them even as I complained about them and the next thing I knew they were my favorite new product of 2012. I think I like them better than the lip butters!

    1. Haha, I guess it's just much easier to do a quick drawing instead of hauling a bunch of makeup to the nearest trunk. There will certainly be more of them, since I am shifting my measly income on pens/ink (things that get a lot of use from me) instead of makeup.

  2. I also thought the picture was so cute!

    1. Oh thanks, now I have one more reason to keep those coming (and do less plain review).
