Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster (the ones at top left are eyeliners, I just didn't feel like leaving gap), available in six shades, is the pearly/shimmery version of their chubby pencil lip stain (released last year). The range generally appears more pigmented and interesting (than the existing range, which debuted spring 2011) while retaining the glossy finish and balm-like texture.
These lip stain retails for 24 dollars a piece (Of course, swatching testers in ULTA is free of charge), I might get Fever, the shimmery red if there is a promotion.

I don't care for the Lip Lusters. They're all too glittery for me - I quite dislike them. I want to try the lip stains myself, but fear the lack of pigmentation.
ReplyDeleteOoh, if I had to choose, I think I'd get fever too. :]
ReplyDeleteI have 3 of the Tarte lipsurgence stains, one in each finish (matte, luster, and...regular? Idk? that one doesn't have a special name I guess). My fave finish is the regular one. The matte is too dry (doesn't help that I bought it in a fucshia color, which totally stands out) and the lusters are too sparkly/glittery. It feels like a lipbalm on the lips and looks like a gloss. There's a minty scent too, which I do like. As far as staining power, the brighter and darker colors will obviously leave behind a longer lasting stain than the lighter ones. Honestly, I'm probably not going to buy any more from this line since they're kinda expensive and don't last that long. Sorry for the novel. Lol.

ReplyDeleteI normally don't like lip stain since my lip color is red enough on its own (so my interest is more on the packaging).

Haha, the most cost-effective (pigmentation/price) one...

Long replies are always welcomed! Actually I feel a little awkward replying one-liner (the worst of its kind would be those repeated summaries of what I just wrote "It's pretty, too bad it doesn't last" ) ...As I don't know what to say...
For 24 bucks, I guess I would go for an actual lipstick (shiseido's price range)but it seems that tarte has promotion quite frequently so I might get a red one someday because the chubby pencil is just too cute!
