Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega Defense Daily UV Defender SPF 45

It's a Friday night and let's get physical...sunscreen!

Since last November, I have been on a strict anti-pigmentation routine. It means that for the first time in history, I made sure to swear sunscreen as long as I stepped outdoor (rain or shine ). Since I had previously identified my nemesis (most chemical filters), it was actually not hard to follow through once I had the habit. For most part of the winter, I used the Josie Maran SPF 47 with only one problem, it's too damn greasy. With summer looming closer and closer, I started looking for dryer options.
Origins always seemed like one of those pseudo-natural brands with loads natural extracts (at the end of the ingredient list where they no longer matter much). I have tried their mask and micellar water and did like them. The Andrew Weil Mega Defense UV Defender SPF 45 seemed like a potential replacement for the (more natural leaning) Josie Maran.

It's 41 dollars for 30ml, a bit pricey but Origins usually gives a ton of minis when you buy in store or on their site.
The Weil x Origins sunscreen has a slick texture that's a sigh of silicone abundance. The smoothed white-out texture is even and there is no visible grain of Titanium dioxide or zinc oxide and (I feel silly even mentioning it) it certainly doesn't scratch or dry out my face. Instead, it gives a noticeable glow that's not greasy.  Beside foundation, it also functions as a smoothing base when I want a bit of powder on top (either as extra coverage and SPF).

As you can see, the sunscreen has a greenish tinge so on the face, it evens out and brightens instead of looking stark white. As long as I didn't get carried away picking my face, this is enough a sheer foundation. The formula seems protective enough (as I didn't experience darkening of spots) and the only down fall I can think of is that by the end of day, the sebum would break down the whole "mask of protection" resulting a blotchy finish. I don't hold it against Origins since that's what powder sunscreens are for.

With generous daily usage (I dot it allover my face like JLaw in X-men), a 30ml bottle lasted me two months. I am eager to open up the second but I am also testing out other physical sunscreens in the market. I will talk about the rest in coming weeks.

(Side note: This has a noticeable green/grassy fragrance.)

    1. Yeah. My sunspots blends with my acne marks as well so now I am using liquid sunscreen in the morning then touch up with powder in the afternoon...Vitamin C helps with marks but not too much for spots.
