Wet n Wild Shimmer Take on the Day Eyeshadow Primer in A Little Party

Wet n Wild Shimmer Take on the Day Eyeshadow Primer in A Little Party was a limited edition release from last fall but it seems that it's making a comeback (as permanent) this spring in another Fergie collection. Their regular primer has being well-loved in the makeup community (I didn't get it because I already have and love the Milani one) so I got the shimmery one just for the heck of it. I was under the impression one it would be a shimmery beige that gives dimension to any eyeshadow (but wait, most eyeshadow are shimmery anyway), it turns out to be a rose(gold)taupe instead.
Even with the chuck full of shimmer and taupe color, my first impression of the Wet n Wild primer is how similar is it to Too Faced Shadow Insurance (swatched right next to it). It has the same smell (that weird smell I can put my hand on), consistency, and how the liquid and paste separate when you squeeze it out...I guess the regular version is a true TFSS dupe, eh?
All of my primers side by side. With a random taupe Rimmel Shadow to fill the space because I am OCD. See how both Wet n Wild and Too Faced both have that oily sheen?
On the eyelid (more rose than taupe)by itself, I found the color itself so bold (and busy) that I can't think of a way to just use it as a base underneath (anyway, it seems that the primer bit is already sticking to the shimmery parts so it dries completely without leaving a base). The color is understated and interesting as an allover wash (remember that's one of the two ways I know how to apply eyeshadow?) and I found the lasting power actually better than Maybelline Color Tattoo, staying on my arms way pass it.
Ingredient list of the Take on the Day Eyeshadow Primer in A Little Party

Overall: Interesting enough for an eye tint (by the way, this spreads out too well that the color just don't get very intense), haven't find a way to use as a primer. The package is no-frill, soft and easily squeezable, I just don't like how the silver band at the bottom of the tube scratches off too easily.

  1. Thank you for your review. I was curious about that primer. I love the Milani one. I haven't tried the Wet 'n Wild one, but I think I have it somewhere in a drawer.

    1. I actually thought I only reviewed it as an eyeshadow...But anyway, I think I much prefer Milani because the no-separation and the (lack of) smell it has.
