Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant is a glorified vaseline with some oils thrown in  an legendary multi-tasking warriors that can be used on eye lids, brows, cuticles, dry elbows, lips...etc (so can plain old vaseline). Anyway, this particular balm has an orange color, funny smell (more doable than Carmex) and runny consistency that flows out of the tube easily.

Ingredient List:  Petrolatum (56.8% by weight). Inactive Ingredients: Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Tocopherol, BHT, Salicylic Acid, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Vegetable Oil, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Fragrance, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides

As a body moisturizer, I personal find the formula too oily that not only it doesn't stay put, at least not long enough to provide/lock in any moisture in the target area, it also gets too oily and messy if I use it as a brow groomer or cuticle cream. Anyway, the grease does seem to provide some noticeable (and temporary) relief on the dry lines under my eyes (Then again, I also get that with grape seed oil or plain vaseline).
As a lip balm/gloss, it gives a glossy shine and a bit of apricot tint that's cute if you are into that fresh, minimal makeup look. However, the salicylic acid  makes my lip feeling raw if I load it on for more than a few hours (most of the time, it's too slippery to stay). Overall: Overrated and overpriced (I paid around 8 bucks at TJ-maxx though). For each of the claims the 8hr cream makes, I can find a product that's far more effective and affordable so I am not sure where did its cult status come from.

P.S. (As of today) In the wiki page of Elizabeth Arden, especially the part about the 8hr cream, sounds like a big fat advertorial full of syntax/grammatical errors (or maybe just a badly written fan fiction).

The review part of the EA product page isn't any better (What the hell is "Foundation product makes skin look natural(Intervene)"?  And does "proven to work for decades" sound like a review from a customer?)

  1. Yes. This product does have a funny smell! Everytime I put it on in public, I get asked about "what's that smell" and not in a happy way. I'm glad I didn't buy it: it was just given to me.
