Freeman Facial Clay Mask with Avocado & Oatmeal

Freeman Feeling Beautiful Facial Clay Mask with Avocado and Oatmeal, just looking at the packaging, seems to be a natural(despite the unnaturally bright neon green tube), delicious treat for the skin during summertime. I purchased it a few weeks ago at Walgreens (for around 3 dollars) as a more user-friendly (easier to squeeze) alternative to the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask.

The scent of the Freeman mask is quite strong (like a combination of tropical fruit, rubber and powdery perfume) and on the face, the heavy scent (and possibly just the formula itself) is no less irritating than the strong minty tingle I get from Queen Helene mask. I need to make sure it's a certain distance away from my eyes and nostril since it actually irritates my mucus membrane enough to sting (just a little but it did give me runny eyes).
The texture of the Freeman Avocado Oatmeal mask is indeed smoother to the touch (it contains a few thickener, emollients or filler ingredients of the sort) and due to all the fillers,  I also need more to cover my face. Once dries, it shrinks in size evenly (instead of cracks and flakes), gives a tightening effect (along with a duck face and a startled eyes) and the initial teal color changes into an ugly shade of lime green (maybe it's a reaction with the oil it soaks up?) .

Anyway, beside the tightening, soaking some oil and the initial irritation, the mask didn't seem to do much. I still see plenty of blackheads the second day and the refreshment is gone as soon as I wash it off.  Overall: Doesn't work for me.

  1. I've used a whole tube of this myself and I agree - it doesn't do much. Still, it's my uncle's favorite for his and my aunt's at-home facial days so it must be doing something for them?

    1. I suppose it does feel good once it shrinks a bit. (I wonder if your uncle and aunt have tried the queen helene clay mask though).

  2. Did the Queen Helene mask work for you? I use it every other night for a week when trying to clear a breakout before an important event and it seems to do the trick for me. It is drying tho, but my skin kind of gets used to it so I save it for when I really need it.

    1. Yes, it does (I have used up several tubes in the past few years) and I got another tube of that after trying/not liking the freeman one.

I love using it to remove blackheads. It's just that the minty rush can be a little too much and the tube is somewhat hard to squeeze.
