After my very happy (and short lived hah will explain in a sec) purchase of Romand Glossy Tint, I was really feelin' the genius of Saerom Min and headed online for another one of their products. With the worldwide lock down, my yesstyle haul went MIA for two and half months (during which my tube of glossy tint already turned a dull shade of coral red/is it just me or those watery stains go bad super quickly?). At the end of May, it finally landed in my mailbox!
Knowing that all of their glossy version will end up too deep on me (if their warm peanut nude turns reddish coral, the rest will be 50 shades of magenta), I opted for their See Through Matte Tint in Pink Fold, as it looks lightest and I had been loving raspberry pink.
Packaging is adorable - A textured (but not yet gummy) tube with clear cap - The tube matches what's inside and the shade name is easily visible from the front...This really came from a lip product lover/hoarder.
For around $10 bucks (Yesstyle price. It's around $16 in Ktown stores) the presentation is amazing.
The inner wand stick is clear, with a sponge spatula applicator. It's perfect for the tint as it has the texture of cake batter and just regular artificial (but pleasant) fruit scent.
Just looking at the bluidsh outline of the wand I am feeling a little uneasy...This might end up too bold.
The matte tint is exactly what it claims to be - See through but with frosted texture. It applies smoothly and doesn't feel drying initially (yes it does eventually sink into my lip lines).
Pink Fold is a beautiful bold raspberry with a tiny bit of neon undertone (as with many other lip tints, the shade deepens a little on me, steering into the auntie magenta zone)...This particular berry pink will look amazing on those kpop stars or people with very pale skin. I am getting a lot tanner during summer it's not as wearable as I want it to be.
The wear is reasonably even (consider its light weight) but doesn't stay this way a few hours later (see end of post). I wasn't a big fan of the deeper pink ot later turned into but I wasn't dying to take it off either (because I know it would be covered by a mask).
1. Romand Pink Fold
2. Coffret D'Or Premium Stay Rouge Berry Pink (I gifted my own back up to friend and now I want to get another just to be safe).
3. Glossier Generation G - Crush. This look so muted next to other berry pinks.
4.Revlon Lip Butter in Sorbet - This fuchsia is so bold with noticeable blue sheen but somehow very wearable. *Bows to Gucci Westman*
5. Lunasol Stain Color Lips in Vivid Red - This looks the most similar to Pink Fold but looks way more natural (it can be sheered out easily and it doesn't stain or deepen on the lips).
[French Accent]9.5 hours later.
I was too busy to drink, mask at my chin and greasy face...The tint was very much there but I also got a grandma mouth. To be fair, all lip tints (be it Opera, Canmake or Peripera) are like this that's why I like the regular, no-staining lipsticks and glosses.
Another thing I notice with lip tint (anything that leaves a stain behind) is that the more I use them, the uglier my natural lip color becomes...Lately I have been swatching many of my impulse purchases and I notice that a staining lipstick/tint usually make my lip boundary blurry and my lip color duller shade of mauve...For people who are not happy with their lip colors, this could be a vicious cycle of endless lip tints. I personally don't want to be dependent on stains (a good lipstick can stays on its own without being all clingy) so I need will try to limit these kind of purchase.
Don't get my wrong I still get Romand and might get other lip products "for science". These just won't be added to my heavy rotation.
I am glad to hear that it finally found its way to you!!! So far, I have tried 3 matte tints in different formulations and I need to put a tiny amount on then blend(?) like crazy, which is not so fun. For the similar reason, I don't know how people do gradation lips because it seems like so much work. :o I think Pink Fold looks beautiful on you. :D Too bad you don't find it comfortable to wear...I'm surprised to see the color looks vivid on you because it kinda looks muted on my lips.
ReplyDeleteSomething with my pH (and perhaps my purple lip undertone) makes pink way brighter than they are...It happened across all brands so it's not romand's fault. I am tempted by thier glosses but I will refrain for now.
DeleteI kept seeing Romand pop up on Asian Youtuber's videos o_O guess I'll try it at some point
ReplyDeleteI kept seeing it on reddit as well. I think the hundreds/thousands of upvotes are not completely natural though (because the comments aren't enthusiastic like the upvotes)... Their colors are beautiful but also heartbreaking for people like me, who absolutely hate lip stains...
