Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint in Bare Popsicle

With all the lip oils and tints popping up, it seems that clear lip tint is becoming mainstream...Well, not just clear but color-changing clear lip tint that turn into the exact same shade of hot pink on me.

It's the same old story: I had a concert to catch (yes I love my classical music binge) and since I had two hours to kill, I wandered around Macy's looking for crap to buy.

Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint caught my eyes with its simplicity, petite frame and glimmering finish (very different from their standard aesthetics or just different from most of those highend brands in general).  The tube reminds me of Chicca but of course Chicca is way prettier(yeah I am 100% biased).
Isn't is like the reflection of a winter lake?
I think originally the Extra Lip Tint only has Bare Pink (soft pink tint) but added Bare Popsicle and Bare Melon this year as limited edition. I got the punchy Bare Popsicle which looks like the red Jolly Rancher. It has a delightful yuzu scent (unlike the plasticky one from Dior) and a comforting balmy formula that's applies easily enough without being too squishy.
On the lips, it gives a brightening pink tint that wakes up my deadly winter complexion (yes it darkens on my overtime and slowly becoming that generic pink that stains my lips allover). It's a decent formula...until you take a look at the price tag.

Nope, it doesn't feel like a 33-dollar (plus tax, yo) product at all. Beside the packaging, I am not sure how this is any different from Essence Glow Neon Glow(3 bucks) and since each tube contains only 2.3grams of products it's quite steep in terms of unit price.

Anyway, I am not too upset about it since I bought it for the packaging alone and at least the minuscule amount means I will be able to finish it. People who shell out this much on a single tinted balm probably aren't concerned about it being the same quality as Essence, a brand they don't usually buy from anyway.

It's perfectly handbag/pocket compatible, just has a noticeably poorer quality compared to Dior and Fresh (now they raised the price to 24), that's all.

  1. The color is so pretty on you! But, you're right. Unless you're a BB fangirl, it's hard not to realize there are better options avail. Speaking of clear tint and gloss, guess which Canmake things I ordered lately. ;p

    1. Hmmm, stay on balm rouge (sheesh I am still waiting for my amazon order)? I have the melty smooth oil gloss and liked it a lot!

  2. Urgh. $33 lip balm? Nope. At least the translucent red popsicle stick looks delectable!

    1. It wasn't even a great one at that (fresh feels much more moisturizing and they don't turn clown bright overtime).

  3. That's a pretty pink color. I'll give you an update on the Estee lauder lipsticks- the bullet goes wonky. They didn't design or fill the lipsticks properly so it leans on a side and smears all over the tube. Pissed off about it because it's so expensive and subpar quality. They all going to the cold palace. Maybe one day I'll make a lipstick palette. I'm sticking to Lancôme rouge in love 232m rosemantic. That is my ride or die pink lipstick. But I know Lancome will discontinue it soon, it's been on the market for like 5 years now, no one ever talks about it anymore and the new L'absolue have taken priority. I'm going to buy a few backups. Lolz.

  4. Speaking of Dior. The new Dior addict lip lacquer sticks have arrived at my local department store. Some of the testers already stolen. Quickly swatched them, they feel like a high shine version of Revlon lip butters. Going to skip these ones.

    1. I saw these at Sephora the other day, the color are too secondary (like just straight orange or purple without special nuance so I wasn't interested), gotta save my pennies for chicca summer collection!

    2. I picked up 2 more shades of the Lancôme shine lover lipsticks. 212 and 124. And I have to say I change my mind, I quite like them. They are "easy" lipsticks, kinda like the Revlon lip butters varieties but with more punch. I was buying Lancome dual finish powder (which apparently is their number one selling product, it's a hidden gem, no one talks about it but it's the BOMB, I use it as a setting powder now) and got sucked in again. Now 95% of my makeup is by Lancome. I have made them rich, no joke.

    3. Haha, Lancome is lucky to have you! I tried to take a look at their shine lover gloss but sephora only stocks that gimmicky shake gloss thing (aint nobody got time for that). I might pick up the blue gloss from their summer collection if I am able to find it.

  5. Lancome make lovely lipglosses. Both the lip lover and gloss in love are great. Lip lover is smoother and balmier while gloss in love is thicker, stickier and has more shimmer but are still comfortable to wear. No one buys them or talks about it anymore. The click lock design of these glosses is so convenient. I bought one and it had a production date of 2013. Sad, because you know what that means, they will discontinue it eventually and flog those ugly lip shakers which is so tacky. I swear, only the housewives, aunties and grandmas buy Lancôme. Sometimes I feel kinda embarassed because I'm the only young one who buys from them.
