Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick in EX-01 Saebara

Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick in EX-01 Saebara is one of the three limited lipsticks from their fall 2016 UK Exclusive Collection. I got it the following spring, wore it once and hated it so much that I haven't touched it for two years. Anyway, every lippie deserves a glamour shot review so here it is.
Sadly this sleek packaging is no longer in production
Kanbotan (from the same collection, seems OK swatched but just looks so off and auntie) Saebara and Armani 400 (Red done right). As expected from a premium brand like Suqqu, the texture is excellent: smooth, not overly slippy and comfortable. The limited edition has slightly different texture that's easier to glide and less melty buttery.
What I didn't enjoy was the color - A bright lacquered red that's actually just a deepened magenta (you can see it around the side where I put fewer layers). No matter what kind of lighting (the morning light is the least forgiving) I had, it always looks like a cheap clown red.

The lacquer shine, 70-80% opacity (I could never make it fully opaque) combined with the glaring bright red pairs so awkwardly with this finish, instead of Creamy Glow, they might as well call it Slippy Glare. This kind of colors might look good on magazine editorial (what most UK exclusive are aiming for I suppose) but heck a one-dollar Wet n Wild lipstick will look good when you have young and gorgeous models, professional lighting, expert photographer and post production.
Here is a bonus feature that I dread - This stains immediately upon contact! Overall while I love  Suqqu lipsticks and eyeshadow, I shall stay away from the UK exclusive as they are designed for a totally different demographic.

  1. Oh wow, I never realized Saebara stains, perhaps because I always wear a balm underneath to sheer it out and I suppose that prevents the staining? But agree with the UK exclusives being for a different demographic. Some eye shadow palettes are just way too neon...

    1. I think the dude(I know the name but don't want to get google tracked with keywords) just stressed so much on artistic expression and has little concern for how different colors/texture layers on skin and onto other shades. I have seen these three LE lipsticks on white, half white people (the cheerleaders bloggers) and I definitely think the colors look off on them as well...

Anyway, those UK are still gonna be popular because suqqu is sought after. As long as the main line is still created by Japanese folks I am totally fine.

  2. Question what do you do think of the Jacilyn Hill lipstick saga? If you haven't heard she now has her own line of lipsticks and apparently they are shoddily manufactured. Like apparently there's hair and holes and pieces of crap inside her lipsticks wtf. I've never really had any issues with lipsticks even with drugstore ones like Maybelline etc. You work in laboratory no? I've wondered if she used a sub par factory to make these lipsticks...

    1. I don't follow youtube star so I cant comment. If they skimp on personel wages the quality control will suffer. I have actually seen a small piece of plastic embedded in a Maybelline colotr whisper lipstick so I guess their QC weren't great either.
