In the western world of makeup, Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 400 is considered somewhat of a classic (coincidentally 400 is also the classic red of Anna Sui lipstick). I never wear bold red enough to justify buying a whole tube (no matter how sleek the tube looks) but when Sephora offers a mini as gift with purchase, I jumped right at it(and ended up with other crap I probably don't need).
I have quite a few minis from Sephora and I gotta say the higher end ones (like Bobbi Brown and Charlotte Tillbury) are minuscule. This is a simplified version of the full size (instead being a scale down) and only half the size of my pinkie.
Anyway. I rarely do bold red that the mini is perfect for me.
400 "The Red" is an intense true red with satiny shine. The lip color is lightweight (I don't feel it on my mouth), bold yet quite flattering on my skin. Even without base makeup it somehow brightens up my face. It reminds me of the classic French women's makeup: Bare minimum everything with statement red lip.
For a lightweight formula, it was easy to draw and I didn't have to worry about it going outside of my lip boundary (ain't got no time for lip liner)...
Please excuse the hasty application, I was doing a swatchathon (got a ton of regular toys and freebies that I haven't reviewed) when I first got a sunny afternoon.
Wow that IS a statement red. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI did ended up buying the Bare Minerals powder brush. Yeah it's actually quite nice. It's natural hair. I paid $58aud for it. It actually reminds me of my Chanel powder brush which I paid $90 or so for it. The Chanel is higher quality made in Japan and the Bare Minerals made in China. Bare Minerals actually do make pretty decent brushes. I want the double ended eyeshadow/brow brush nbext lolz. None of the drugstore brushes are natural all cheap synthetic. And I have yet to own Morphe brushes lolz eyeroll.
ReplyDeleteI went to a mall two weeks ago and saw a morphe store, some of their powder brushes are really nice! (And $58 is unthinkable for me...since I didn't even pay regular retail for it).
DeleteAnd Shiseido has officially left the building, the counter is gone at my local department store and replaced with.....SKII...have you ever tried SKII? Is their stuff really that good?
ReplyDeleteSad but expected, Shiseido's shade developer (whatever that's called) need to get spanked. How can they have dozens of shades of lipstick to choose from yet every single one looks either clownish or auntie (yet formula is amazing). I will always call them Asian Estee Lauder.
DeleteSKII is too high end for me...I mean I don't want to pay 100 bucks knowing 30of them goes to paying youtubers for their exotic vacation and other megastar commercial. There are better/classier high end brands to go for.
