One of my summer favorite (or only, since there is absolutely nothing going on down here beside getting naturally sauna-ed) pass-times is checking out bath and body products at Marshalls/TJ maxx. Since I am not getting too much fun from my normal body wash, I decided pick up a wholesome looking soap on my recent trip there - Enters Plantlife Aromatherapy Green Tea Herbal Soap.
My first impression of the soap (as I get a serious sniff of it when I got home) was that it smells nothing like green tea. In fact, all of their soaps (with the exception of the who-the-heck-thinks-it-a-good-idea-Black Licorice one, which was on clearance...I wonder why) smells strongly of herbs. Like concentrated lavender plus rosemary plus parsley and whatever else you use to prepare your meat. Anyway, let's take a look at the ingredients.
Aqua (Water), Saponified Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Kernel Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Proprietary Blend of 100% Pure Essential Oils. May Contain Organic Spices, Herbs or Earth Clays. (Where is green tea?)
Tealessness aside, the soap seems to be a good one (for body and for face, as marketed). It's hard in a non-mushy way yet it foams up well with a bath mesh and a bit of water. The foam created is rich, smooth and stays on the skin long-enough to do all the cleaning (you know some time bubbles flats out too quickly? It doesn't happen with this one) it leaves skin clean without any dryness or residue (or the unknown generic herbal scent).
There are some tree-pulp kind of bits in the soap, I have no clue what purpose they serves (too huge to exfoliate, not uniform enough to message). As long as you are not rubbing the soap directly on the face (a route a go for when the lazy bug hits), it shouldn't scratch too much. Anyway, I think it's a calming formula that seems to not encourage any break out.
love your photos! Also, thanks for the recommendation! I've been looking for a new soap to try out!
