Drugstore Highend Skin Care - Yes or No?

Just saw these Aveeno and Neutrogena Anti-aging products yesterday and these drugstore brands products are pretty expensive (condiser my grocery store usually offers very low price on everything) that a tiny tube of "anti-aging" cream can cost 40 dollars.

Would you spend 36-40bucks on a single drugstore beauty product?

  1. No for me. If I'm paying that much I'd rather splash out a little more for something more high end & reliable.

  2. These are expensive, I'm waiting for my 40's to starting care more about my skin- and paying this high. I just use facial cleanser+moisturizer every bath and scrub twice a week and I think that's enough for my age. Now I got an eye cream for my dark circles and a facial mask, both revitalizing from Avon Liiv, everybody says they are great. (without bubbles). Big kiss!

  3. it really depends, if it works for me, I don't mind. I haven't really tried Aveeno skincare, usually the body lotions are great for me :)

  4. It depends. If they contain good and effective ingredients and work well for me then yes, I'd buy them. But if they just contain basic ingredients you can find in any product then no thanks. I'd rather go for a cheaper option then.

Same here, when I am spending 40 bucks on a face cream, I want a SA's "expert opinion", some sample and other bidding I want for me...lol. (Most of the time would be a foundation match that goes on nowhere, as all of them look like mask.)

Lol about the bubbles, I personally think it's never too early to anti-age, I mean the sunglasses/sunscreen part though, my mom use those religiously and she still haven't got any fine line (Of course her smile line part is sagging but then again there is nothing you can do about time anyway...)I have normal skin myself so instead of cleanser/moisturizer, I am more of a cleanser + sunscreen routine (that I am too lazy to follow during winter...)

Yeah, it's whatever that works, but I personally am not willing to try them (for 40 bucks) in the first place.

It's kind of interesting that you say "effetive ingredients" I personally think even if it's some highly effective patented ingredients, their presense doesn't always mean they would work (I think formulation matters more) amd it's really hard to tell unless you pay and try them first...

  6. If its effective for my skin I will, but thru my experience you really have to try a product to know if its best for you're skin. Even if people swear on how effective it is for them, it all depends on how you're own skin react to these products....

  7. I've tried some anti-ages, loreal, lancome and nivea, but they turned my skin worse, I don't know why, but my skin started to be creamy (more than normal) with all of them and I quit - specially with lancome one.

I agree,I personally find most of the well-rated product over makeup alley useless for my skin and those horribly rated ones all happened to be my favorite.

    Cacau:
I think the ones you are using are targeting older people who less oil secretion so they would be too rich for you...It's good actually, since it means you are still pretty young.

  9. Well, maybe effective wasn't the right word to use. What I meant was ingredients that have been proven to be effective in scientific, controlled studies not associated with the company. And that are present in concentrations high enough to actually do something. Of course even then those ingredients may not work well with my skin (after all we are all different and what works for me may not work for you), but at least I know I haven't wasted money to buy products that contain miraculous ingredients that aren't backed up by any research.
