Surratt Lipslique in Lady Bug

Surratt is a brand that I enjoy dissing occasionally - First there are all those ridiculous half French names, the line is fairly well made (being Japan made and all) but artistically limited (shade wise they are like Visee Avant to me). While many love their brushes - I don't find them worth the luxury price (being at the same price point, Takada is magnitude better). Some time last winter, the brand went on sale at Sephora and many of their make up ended up being 50% off, I was late on the game and only managed to pick up an eyeshadow and this lipstick.
The Lipslique is a balmy lipstick house in a slim tube - The stick is very soft and can break easily - I didn't like how it's not retractable but it's not a big deal. The texture is moderately balmy with a nice gloss - Nothing thick or slippery. It's smooth enough on its own but it's pretty good at the half off price of $17 (but at $34, there are dozens of great Japan-made lip color to chose from).
Bare lips for comparison
The shade I got was Lady Bug - A dusty pumpkin orange with a tiny bit of opacity (At first I thought Lady Bug are supposed to be brighter red, but Google tells me that this is actually a spot on shade for certain variety of the beetle). I like it for $17 but won't buy Surratt Lipslique full priced.

  1. Nice color! I don't see any opacity at all. It looks pretty translucent!

    1. There is a slight clear milkiness not in a bad way (if it's totally clear orange usually looks way bright on me).

  2. Love the color on you! Just like you, Surrat is one of those brands that never interests me. For $17 it's nice but I'd want a legit(!) lipstick tube for anything over $20.

    1. For the last few years I have been using those Sephora dollars off 50 coupon on surratt only, they are kind of worth it that way.
