Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

Here is a PSA sort of post, as Nuxe is currently having a 30% off sale on their site (no code needed!).
Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm seems to be a cult favorite among bloggers. I have always been too cheap to pay near 20 bucks for a just lip balm but luckily, Lily got me one (among other things) on from trip to Paris...back in 2013.

The little glass jar is hefty and contains 15ml of products. I assume that the density is close to that of wax so this pot contains around 13 grams of product, 3x that of a normal chapstick. Unit price wise, it's not really expensive compared to all the drugstore lip balm.
The texture of Nuxe Reve de Miel is a thick creamy, kind of like a creamier version of the old Burt's Bee's cuticle creme (Before they reformulated it into cuticle cream and made it much waxier/with more filler ingredients). The honey/sweet citrus fruit smells is sweet, wholesome and weaker than other honey-scented balms (Burt's Bees and Nivea). It's comforting and tasty (for a balm, as it's just a tad sweet but not bitter/waxy).
On the lips, it's rich, nourishing and the soothing effect is particularly noticeable during early winter, when my skin is windblown(of course it doesn't help much during snowpocalypse). The balm appears matte and has a peachy color(it's the yellow mixing with the red) that stays on for a short few hours even with drinking. Some bloggers like to use it as a base for lipstick but I personally find it makings things patchy.

Overall: I think it's a much nicer take on the honey chapsticks. I would totally repurchase (I am only half way through and have many other pot to dig through) when the next sale rolls around(this time I only bought the dry oil I have been liking/too cheap to buy at Duane Reade).
Ingredients: Cera Alba (Beeswax), Olus (Vegetable) Oil, Lecithin, Behenoxy Dimethicone, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Extract, Mel/Honey, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Rosa Moschata Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Candelilla Cera (Euphorbia Cerifolia Wax, Candelilla Wax), Allantoin, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, BHT, Citric Acid, Citral, Limonene, Linalool

  1. Good to know this is a real deal. I've been wanting to upgrade my lipbalm (something better than Smith's Rosebud Salve, which is a rose scented petroleum jelly with some cotton seed oil) and considered this a bit. I'm still a bit hesitant because I didn't like their honey scented hand cream. Do you think it is pretty much the same scent?

    1. I never tried the hand cream (or the original smith rose salve, but I love the minted rose version) so I can't say anything. While the smith (only speaking my experience from the minted/mandarin/mocha rose)seems moisturizing and line smoothing. Nuxe is really , rich soothing especially for windy winter (so, not helpful for ny summer). They are two different products so you will be disappointed if you are looking for an upgrade. Anyway, I would say you can hold of till later(they will be sure to have another sale by then)or just sniff them at duane reade/walgreens in nyc(that's how I get to try the dry oil anyway).
